LEADING WITH GRACE #2

TOUGH LEADERS:

Good leaders typically excel at the difficult skills of management and organization. They can be strong, articulate and clear as they communicate. Tough leaders know the goal and will make sure the goal is accomplished.

GRACEFUL LEADERS:

Not many understand the need for a gentler approach to leading. The gentle leader will often times be as affective as the tough leader. The same goal is achieved but in a different way. Sometimes it takes a little longer but when done the lasting effects are not damaging to those involved.

Grace filled leadership looks like this:

• The leader will gently confront negativity. Humor is common and laughter is often heard.

• The atmosphere allows everyone to laugh at themselves. No one is to take themselves too seriously.

• The leader nurtures structures to help people interact safely

• The Leader Focus’s on healthy communication and open mindedness.

• The Leader Develops a culture that allows risk-taking and failure.

• The Leader makes Grace the central focal point of all that’s done by not allowing blaming and walking in forgiveness.

• The Leader fosters an environment that allows for 2nd chances

• The Leader keeps a non heavy handed approach to discipline.

• Isiah 1:18 Come Let Us Reason together - The CLURT

CONCLUSION:

It takes Tough Leaders and Graceful Leaders. They are both needed. It’s my opinion that a healthy blend of the two would be the best model.

Most of us have lived on the side of Tough Leadership style. It would be good for us to visit the softer side. Grace Filled Leadership typically helps people rather than hurts them.

I think grace filled leadership has much longer influence and overall effectiveness in all that it seeks to do and accomplish.
